Cry, Taillights

That familiar scent lingers in the air,
a cigarette burning even when you're not there.
Tonight the clouds are racing
to hide the stars and moon,
like whitewashing wallpaper
in an empty room.

Tonight i'll watch the taillights cry,
the raindrops falling, cars flying by.
If only there was enough gasoline refined
to drive the distance it takes to find
a way to you, away from here.
If only there was enough gasoline to burn
the bitter memories of taking wrong turns
away from you, away from here.

A blank ceiling taunts my lonely eyes
the ones that haven't been able to cry.
The hours drag on as i lay awake in this bed

i was listening to the subaru
tingling beneath a vast
expanse of stars tonight.
             ever notice how cars do that,
             tingle after being turned off?
it felt good, damn did it. but
i feel emptier than ever.  the sky
taunts me, so full of life and abundance.

it meant nothing to both of us, i know,
my fingers carving paths through your hair
and chasing your lips, come back.

Our final project for Drawing I. we had to do a drawing in the style of Chuck Close. We divided up our pages (which were about 3x4 ft.) into squares that were 3.5 square inches. we then had to divide those squares into 4 different areas each however we chose to. the drawings had to be half black and white, half color and we could divide it however we wanted. at each place where it changed area we had to, in the color area, change the color, and in the BW area, change value. so, this is what i ended up with. it was my favorite drawing from the whole class. it's done with chalk prismacolor pastels.

it is very beautiful. if catches the eye quickly. the picture looks like it could be a computer generated portrait, but at closer inspection, its a very well drawn out observational piece. I commend you on your hard work
